Updates and Recipes!

Happy Thursday everyone!
I'm sharing the same recipe that is on Hart to Heart today, but also here are a few updates!!

Brooke asked on the blog post yesterday, what I suggest to drink when you absolutely do not want water? We all have those moments when water is not our beverage of choice. I love drink mixes that you can add to water but the problem is, crystal lite and Mio include artificial sweeteners. SO after searching I found this little gem at wally world. Great Value Natural Sweetened drink mix. So handy, so good and sweetened with stevia! I carry at least 2 of these in my purse at all times.

Jessica asked on the blog post yesterday what is a healthy alternative to Gatorade (lemon lime specifically) ? If you haven't read the post, I shared that Gatorade contains BVO -- the company actually has no problem sharing this fact in their FAQ section of the website. Sad. However, this is what I drink instead of sports drinks, to replenish my body of electrolytes. Sold at wally world and Target and it's dirt cheap and 100% natural and surprisingly doesn't have any weird tastes.

OR If you can get your hands on "YOLI FUN" ... this is an awesome drink mix. I happen to have a ton of packets that I keep with me and mix in my water. If you're seriously interested in these, let me know and I will point you in the right direction.

Tomorrow is the very first "check in" ... this is the first time we will track our measurements and group weight! Send your info to my e-mail!
By checking in, we can record our group goals, overall weight loss and inches lost!

For those of you running, biking, swimming or walking -- make sure to track your miles! I cannot wait to see how many miles we are going to rack up each month as a group!

I have been wanting to get this recipe on the blog for FOREVR! However it is very rare I have time to prepare a food dish and take photos of it. I'm so glad to get this up and share it with you all because I know there are many of you who have never been exposed to Spaghetti Squash

Spaghetti Squash is a fantastic healthy food and a great low calorie option when compared to cooked pasta!

So today I give you cooking instruction, which are easy as pie!

Spaghetti Squash
1 whole Spaghetti Squash
Toppings of choice

  • Start by washing and drying your squash
  • Cut the squash in half
  • With a spoon scrape out the seeds and 'innards'
  • Heat a pan of water deep enough to fit the two halves of squash with a lid.
  • Once the water is about to boil place the two halves face down in the pan
  • Set your kitchen timer for 20 minutes
  • Remove squash halves; the should be very soft.
  • With a fork, scrape the insides and like magic, you will see spaghetti looking pieces
  • Scrape the whole squash out until you can't get any more
  • Top with your desired toppings: pasta sauce, olive oil, garlic etc. etc.

SIMPLE!

Want to know how it compares to 1 cup of cooked pasta?
Here you go:

1 Cup Cooked Pasta
